Project Guidelines
The
best ideas about redefining education will come from "outside the box." These
will be ideas that make no assumptions about what schools SHOULD be like. In an attempt to
facilitate this "outside the box" style of thinking, you should avoid where at
all possible using terms in your room and component descriptions that create in the
innocent passerby the image of a traditional, industrial age classroom.
Description Style
Make your description practical. They should
include philosophical ideas about styles of learning and teaching, but also describe in
appropriate detail exactly what students and educational staff
will do in your room. The purpose of this project is to describe what should be
happening in our schools and what our learning evironments need to facilitate these
activities.
Words & phrases to avoid are:
Classroom
Teacher
Student
"Columns of Desks" (this one will deliver a mild electrical shock through your
keyboard)
Detention
Social Studies Class, Science Class, etc.
